What is the difference between CV and Resume?

Curriculum vitae or CV:  is a latin expression which loosely translates to ‘the course of life’. A C.V. is more detailed than a resume, usually 2 to 3 pages, but can run even longer as per the requirement A C.V. generally lists out every skills, jobs, degrees, 
and professional affiliations the applicant has acquired, usually in chronological order  and the content does not change as per the job requirement.

Resume: a french word, means to sum up. They do not list out all the education and qualifications, but only highlight specific skills customized to target the job profile in question. Resume is a job specific document that summaries the job experience, skillset, education,and extra curricular activities directly relevant to the particular position.
